How WeKraft is Transforming Education and Passion in Rwanda and Beyond

In a world where African youth are bursting with untapped potential, WeKraft has emerged as a bold force of change, helping children discover not just what they can do, but what they were born to do.

Founded two years ago by Staphord and his dedicated co-founder, Agnes Wambui. WeKraft is reimagining education in Rwanda and beyond. Together, they are on a mission to break the cycle of limited career awareness, where success is often measured by just a handful of prestigious professions: doctor, lawyer, engineer, or pilot.

Their vision is bigger. They see an Africa where every young person is free to explore the vast landscape of professions, guided by passion, interest, and God-given talent, rather than societal pressure or parental expectations.

The Vision Behind WeKraft: Closing the Gap in Africa’s Potential

In many African homes, career choices are often dictated by tradition or status. Parents, out of love, security concerns, or societal influence, push their children toward their own unfulfilled dreams, rather than the child’s true interests.

While well-intentioned, this creates a dangerous gap. Without passion, excellence is rare. Without interest, creativity fades. And without creativity, nations lose the power to innovate, build, and thrive.

Staphord puts it simply: imagine if Africa had just a few more visionaries like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, or leaders like President Paul Kagame, people who pursued their ideas relentlessly and shaped history. The potential is here. What is missing is a system that helps children find their “thing” early, nurture it, and master it.

The WeKraft Approach: Education Reimagined

WeKraft works with children aged 6 to 17, the formative years when curiosity, dreams, and talents begin to take root.

But their work does not stop with the students. Staphord and his team also focus on educating parents. They understand that changing a grown-up’s perspective is not easy; people only shift when they are willing. So instead of lecturing parents, they show them results: the joy, confidence, and skill growth in children who have found their passion.

Here’s how WeKraft does it:

  • Hands-on exposure to real-world professions
Students do not just sit in classrooms. They step into TV studios to feel the rush of being an anchor, visit industrial plants to see how machines hum, shadow hospital staff to understand healthcare, and even try their hand at creative or technical roles they never knew existed.
  • Discovering passion and interest together
Sometimes it is an interest that sparks first; other times it is a deep passion that emerges. WeKraft treats both as valuable starting points. Not everyone will become a doctor or politician,” explains Staphord,  “Excellence emerges when individuals discover and pursue their genuine passions.
  • Building early mastery
By identifying and nurturing talents early, children can spend years sharpening their craft, becoming leaders and innovators in their chosen fields before they even graduate.

Staphord’s Journey and the Values That Ground the Team

Staphord’s open-minded upbringing shaped his vision. As a teenager, he and his brother once considered buying a hotel. Instead of dismissing the idea, his parents allowed them to explore it, teaching him that dreams are meant to be tested, not suppressed. This made him understand the power of supportive guidance.

Being the eldest son also gave him years of practice in guiding and understanding younger siblings. This natural empathy now fuels his ability to connect with children and see the world through their eyes.

The WeKraft team shares these values. Despite coming from different backgrounds and nationalities, they are united by their faith and commitment. They pray before meetings and when big decisions arise, keeping their mission anchored in something greater than themselves.

Staphord’s growth as a leader was further shaped by programs like Jasiri, a highly selective initiative that empowers entrepreneurs in Rwanda, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Jasiri identifies promising changemakers, takes them through intensive bootcamps led by top African entrepreneurs, and pairs them with co-founders who complement their strengths. Participants receive mentorship, resources, research funding, and launch capital to bring their business visions to life. For Staphord, the program reinforced the importance of structured support in turning ideas into sustainable impact—an approach that mirrors WeKraft’s work with youth.

Challenges and Unshakable Commitment

The journey has not been without temptation. Both Staphord and his co-founder have turned down lucrative job offers to keep building WeKraft. It would have been easier to take the monthly paycheck. But for them, this work is not just a business. It’s a legacy.

That level of commitment has kept the vision alive.

Community Outreach and Growth

WeKraft’s growth strategy is deeply grassroots. The team goes directly into schools, speaking to teachers, parents, and students about their mission.

They also ensure that exposure to careers is not just theoretical; students engage directly with different fields. Whether it’s stepping inside a law office, visiting a factory floor, shadowing a surgeon, or exploring media production, the experience is immersive and unforgettable.

This approach builds trust, inspires excitement, and attracts parents who are serious about their children’s genuine development.

Conclusion: More Than an Education Center

WeKraft is not just a place for learning, it’s a movement. A movement dedicated to empowering Africa’s youth to dream boldly, explore widely, and act courageously on their passions.

By bridging the gap between potential and opportunity, WeKraft is shaping a future where African children don’t just survive, they thrive, innovate, and lead.

In Staphord’s own vision, “If we can help more young people act on the talents God gave them, Africa’s future will be unstoppable.”

It’s time for Africa to craft a generation that will not only dream but build.
